Tom Marx

Tom Marx, President and CEO, speaks to the heart of effective business growth management - from the viewpoint of expert strategic marketing. As chief strategist, head of client services, and creative director, his knowledge of business-to-business and consumer marketing and advertising spans 25+ years. Tom brings a depth of marketing expertise from many industries, including automotive and heavy duty parts and services, motorsports, computer hardware and software, telecommunications, broadcast, real estate, financial services, and resort property management.

He was a professional auto racer, owned a repair shop and started a parts business. Tom has been in the pit and speaks the language of the shop floor. He doesn't just talk about the automotive and heavy duty aftermarket - he lives it. Tom is also an active participant in many organizations, including Vice Chair of the Marketing & Member Relations Committee (AAIA), 1st Vice President of the Automotive Communications Council (ACC) and Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), and Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA).

Kerri Petersen

Kerri Petersen is our Vice President of Marketing and Creative Services. Kerri works to develop and execute strategic marketing plans and programs, guide and direct overall media strategies, communications programs, public relations and editorial opportunities, and advertising programs. She also manages the development and production of promotional and collateral materials, websites, and is active in all client communication. Kerri holds a degree in International Business. As a former foreign exchange student, Kerri is also fluent in Spanish.

Christine Lemay

Christine LeMay, our Business Development Manager, is often the first point of contact for you at the The Marx Group. Her responsibility is creating and maintaining relationships with prospects and customers, to assist with marketing projects and to manage the sales process.

Christine is a native of Bonn, Germany, and spent a year in Lyon, France studying international economics. She holds a B.A. degree in Global Economics from UC Santa Cruz, and an M.A. degree in Career Development from JFK University. During her career, Christine has held sales and marketing positions with Sybervision, Siemens Enterprise Networks, The Silicon Valley Job Seeker Center (NOVA), Kaiser Permanente and Solarcraft.




Gary McCoy

Gary McCoy, our Public Relations Director, has over 25 years of experience in marketing communications and public relations, with over 15 years of work in the automotive aftermarket. Having worked as a journalist in radio news and as a magazine and newsletter editor, he provides clients with hands-on expertise on how to successfully work with the media. Gary is also the founder of Fairway Communications.

He is a past president of the Automotive Communication Council (ACC) and in 2009 he received the prestigious Northwood University Automotive Aftermarket Management Education Award. Since 2008 he has served as the managing editor of Springs magazine, a quarterly publication of the Spring Manufacturers Institute (SMI). He is a regular contributor to Aftermarket Business World magazine and APRA’s Global Connection newspaper.




Leslie Allen

Leslie has over 16 years experience providing marketing strategy, public relations, copywriting and account service for the automotive, heavy duty and powersports industries. Formerly Public Relations Director for Martin & Company Advertising and Burroughs and Associates (Nashville, TN), over the years she has worked with some of the most recognized names in the industry to help these companies achieve their PR goals. As Public Relations manager for The Marx Group, Leslie brings both seasoned perspective and fresh creative ideas on how to gain exposure and build awareness. She has excellent relationships with the media, a penchant for finding PR opportunities and is particularly talented at event management. As a direct liaison with the press, she facilitates all public relations efforts for our clients.

Gloria Medina

Gloria Medina, our Marketing Director, is our behind-the-scenes support person. Adding depth to the marketing services provided to clients in the Aftermarket, Gloria brings with her experience in event management, media purchasing and a strong financial background. She has a BS degree in Advertising from San Jose State University and is fluent in Spanish.

John Nodson

John Nodson is our Vice President of Market Research. John enjoyed a 35-year career with Standard Motor Products in various leadership roles and has been with The Marx Group since 2009. John heads up our Market Research Department that utilizes primary research, focus groups, online studies and works with major data providers to help clients select the right data to incorporate into customized data analysis. John is a highly respected industry professional that understands the vital role of data research in making informed strategic marketing and business development decisions. With his experience in the automotive, heavy duty, and commercial vehicle markets, clients benefit from a broad base of knowledge. In addition, John is the president of Sagacious Advisor Group. John earned an MBA from the University of Utah in 1982, and holds a B.S. degree in business from the College of Business Administration at California State University, Long Beach.




Erin Hartman

Erin Hartman, Marketing Coordinator, is the point person to help support marketing, public relations and social media efforts. A 2010 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in English and media studies, she was a member of the Cal Berkeley Athletics Marketing team where she assisted with sales and marketing operations for the athletic department through research, advertising, social media, and marketing efforts. Erin also served as the social networking director and web designer for The Raford Inn in Healdsburg, Calif. During her time at UC Berkeley, Erin was a member of the school's triathlon team. She also holds an A.A. degree in English from Santa Rosa Junior College where she was the captain of the school's swim and water polo team and was named an academic All-American in 2006 and 2007.




Moddie Stone

Moddie Stone, Business Operations Manager and Sales Coordinator, manages day-to-day office functions and provide assistance in sales and accounting. She has over 17 years experience in providing professional administrative support in a variety of areas, including project management, accounting, customer service and human resources. Energetic and self-motivated she's organized, articulate and detail-oriented. Moddie holds a diploma in business administration and a diploma in graphic design from Platt College. She is currently working to complete an A.A. degree in behavior science and art design from College of Marin in Kentfield, Calif.




Creative and Interactive Team

We are particularly proud of our award-winning creative team, headed by creative director/copywriter Laurie Heaven and art director Pam Zarrella, and interactive guru Alejandro Levins. We have combined an in-house team with a task force of outside creatives. This allows us to provide outstanding creative execution for almost any type of project, including lead generation, direct mail, promotions, advertising, sales support programs and materials, website and interactive programs.


Media Team

Our media team has over 35 combined years of experience with media planning and implementation and is scalable to any size budget. Our leverage with media allows us to create extremely effective media buys when leveraged with a PR campaign, and can bring outstanding and measurable results for our clients.
